Are They Worth Half Your Stuff?

I was recently at a gathering of women creating vision boards. Lots of hopes for relationships, engagements, and marriages on the boards. One friend mentioned that she was dubious if she would meet someone who was “worth getting half of my stuff.” I assured her that yes, there is definitely someone that is out there that is worth half of your stuff but I also explained that she could always get a prenup, you know just in case they turn out not to be worth half your stuff. However, my friend was not fully the prenup angle. Why? Because “that’s too much paperwork.” Not more paperwork than signing over half of your stuff, but to each their own.

This is one of the frustrating things I hear all the time when it comes to getting a prenup. So many people want one but they don’t want to do the work to get one. There is always an excuse. It’s too expensive. It will take too long. There is too much paperwork. A prenup is not more expensive than a divorce, it definitely takes less time, and it is way less paperwork. If you truly feel you need a prenup then don’t make excuses. Just get one.
